Description

Jacquet Weston Engineering De-Mineralisation Unit

Manually operated De Min unit producing up to 200 l/h connected to a 1,000 litre holding tank. At the estimated hourly production of 45 l/h demineralised water the unit will need regenerating every 75-80 hours.

Operation

  • Dissolved solids in the water are removed through ion exchange.
  • The water passes through a cation column that is re-generated with hydrochloric acid. In this stage the cations in the water are exchanged for hydrogen ions.
  • The water then passes through the second column, an anion column that is re-generated with sodium hydroxide, in this phase the anions in the water are exchanged for hydroxyl ions, together, hydrogen and hydroxyl ions form water.

Regeneration

The plant has a certain capacity between each re-generation. This capacity is dependent on the total amount of dissolved solids in the water. When the resin is exhausted, the quality of the water declines and the plant must be re-generated with Hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide. This re-generation process is automatic and comprises of a backwash, acid and caustic draw, rinse, circulation and quality rinse. After these stages the plant automatically resumes operation. If the quality of the water is not up to the required standard the outlet valve will remain closed and the control panel will show an alarm. There is a process to re set and rectify any error so that normal operation can be resumed. No unsatisfactory water will be released into the operation.

Capacity - 200 Litres/Hr
