Case Study: BW M&E – ITP Aerospace
Client: ITP Aerospace via BW M&E
Project: Upgrade of Spray Cleaning Machinery
Part Exchange Machinery: Turbex Two Stage Aqueous Spray Cleaning Machine
New Machinery: Technowash Techspray FM1500/3 Multi Stage Front Loading Spray Washer
Overview:
BW M&E, specialists in mechanical and electrical design and installation, have been long-term partners with ITP Aerospace, providing machinery installation and ongoing maintenance services. When ITP Aerospace needed to enhance their manufacturing capabilities, BW M&E was the trusted contractor to manage the upgrade.
Client Background:
ITP Aerospace is a global leader in aerospace propulsion, known for their strong focus on innovation and R&D. Their involvement in the most efficient aircraft engine programmes demands constant updates to their manufacturing processes to maintain high standards of performance and reliability.
Challenge:
With ITP Aerospace upgrading their manufacturing process to meet rising demands, the existing Turbex two stage spray cleaning machine could no longer meet throughput or quality requirements. The company needed a more advanced cleaning solution to support its growth and maintain its technological edge.
Solution:
Having seen a suitable machine on our website, BW M&E proposed the Technowash Techspray FM1500/3 Multi Stage Front Loading Spray Wash. A modern cleaning system offering a fully automated & efficient multi-stage cleaning process, its enhanced throughput matched ITP’s evolving production requirements.
Outcome:
The installation of the new Technowash system has enabled ITP Aerospace to expand its production capacity while maintaining the stringent cleanliness standards required in aerospace manufacturing. BW M&E working collaboratively with our engineers during the transition of the machine swap, from dispatch from our warehouse to installing and commissioning the Technowash unit.
This advancement demonstrated the readily available upgrade opportunities Riley Surface World can offer without compromising quality for a fraction of the price new. We can be your solution to invest in a more cost effective upgrade today rather than later.
Case Study: FC Lane Electronics
Client: FC Lane Electronics / Weald Electronics
Part Exchange Machinery: Kerry 450 Microclean Machine with Autotrans MK3 Robotic Handler
New Machinery: Riley Multiclean 4-60 Four-Stage Ultrasonic Cleaning Line
Overview:
FC Lane Electronics, one of the UK’s leading distributors of electrical connectors, operating alongside their in-house manufacturing arm, Weald Electronics. Committed to maintaining high standards in product quality and operational safety, they undertook a proactive replacement of their existing Kerry 450 Microclean system.
Challenge:
Although still operational, the Kerry system was aging and FC Lane Electronics opted to upgrade to benefit from the new features the current ultrasonic cleaning lines could offer. Restricted to a limited space constraint with close proximity to personnel, investing in an updated cleaning line that could also offer an increased production output was a challenge best suited for our new Riley cleaning range.
Solution:
The Riley Multiclean 4-60, a four-stage ultrasonic cleaning line, was selected for its advanced capabilities. Featuring multiple ultrasonic stages in both the wash and rinse processes, a more powerful and faster drying stage, and a larger capacity basket. These enhancements significantly boosted throughput and cleaning effectiveness.
An added advantage was the integration of a new health and safety enclosure above the tanks—an ideal feature for a site with limited space. This enclosure reduced risk exposure to nearby operators while keeping workflow uninterrupted.
Outcome:
The new machinery not only enhanced performance and efficiency but also came with long-term benefits, including full ongoing support, spare parts availability, and scheduled maintenance. The investment reflecting FC Lane Electronics commitment to quality, safety, and forward-thinking infrastructure planning.
Case Study: Exalto Bearings UK Ltd
Client: Exalto Bearings UK Ltd
Part Exchange Machinery:
- Vixen Surface Treatments VM55 Pressure Blaster with Cyclone & Dust Extractor
- Surface Dynamics Heavy Duty Pressure Fed Shotblast System - Double Operator Cabinet
- Vixen JW99 Top Loading Spraywash
New Machinery:
- Riley BW1500DP Dry Blast Cabinet with Roll-in Turntable & Inbuilt Twin Dust Extraction
- Riley LYM1500 Top Loading Aqueous Spraywasher with Load Trolley
Overview:
Exalto Bearings UK Ltd, specialists in the manufacture of high-quality, pump & marine bearings, undertook a major upgrade of their surface treatment equipment to improve productivity, efficiency, and operator experience. Working with our new machinery team, they replaced a trio of older machines with two modernised, high-performance systems.
Challenge:
Exalto was operating multiple legacy machines for their blasting and washing processes, including a Vixen VM55 shotblaster, a Surface Dynamics shotblast system, and a JW99 spraywash. These systems, though functional, were dated and beginning to restrict their capabilities for increased demands.
Solution:
The company invested in two new machines from Riley Surface World: the Riley BW1500DP pressure blast cabinet and the Riley LYM1500 top loading spraywash. The BW1500DP was custom-fitted with a roll-in turntable and built-in twin dust extraction to enhance ergonomics and operator access. The LYM1500 spraywash included a larger work area of 1350mm for an increased output & efficiency per cycle.
Outcome:
The upgrade streamlined Exalto Bearings surface treatment operations by reducing machine footprint while increasing capacity and reliability.
The new equipment also came with a manufacturer's warranty, ensuring peace of mind and after-sales support. This investment marks a significant step forward in Exalto Bearings ongoing commitment to quality manufacturing and efficient operations.
