Description
ASHB 25X20 Spinner Hanger Shot Blasting Machine
Introduction
This Spinner Hanger, or hook spinner, shot blast machine suspends each workpiece from a powered hook, rotating and oscillating it through a high-intensity blast stream to deliver a clean, uniform, all-over finish without the risk of components impinging on one another.
It is suitable for large, heavy, or geometrically complex components can't be tumbled together for shot blasting including castings, forgings, fabrications, and structural steelwork and is engineered for serious throughput on serious components — while remaining compact, robust, and straightforward to operate.
Why choose the ASHB 25X20?
- Handles components other blast machines can't. Large, heavy, delicate, or awkwardly shaped parts are processed individually or in small clusters, eliminating part-on-part damage.
- Consistent, all-round coverage. Automatic hook rotation and oscillation ensure every face — internal and external — receives even abrasive coverage, batch after batch.
- Built for heavy production. Four powerful blast wheels and a 720 kg/min abrasive recovery system keep cycle times short even on demanding, high-volume work.
- Engineered for a long service life. An 8 mm manganese steel chamber, wear-resistant internal lining, and toolless changeover liners are designed to shrug off years of abrasive impact.
- Flexible transport to suit your production flow. A powered Y-type overhead rail system with twin hangers keeps loading, blasting, and unloading moving with minimal operator intervention.
- Semi or fully-automatic. Operational workflows to suit your method of work.
- Compliant and safe by design. PLC-controlled interlocks, pneumatic door locking, and standstill protection meet machine directive requirements out of the box.
As-new condition - built in 2025
This machine was built and commissioned at a automotive paint stripping facility for a contract that was cancelled by a Tier1 UK manufacturer. Run hours are only 13 hours with the blasting wheels only run for 9 hours. The machine is immaculate and as-new.
Sectors
For foundries, forge shops, structural steel fabricators, and heavy engineering subcontractors, the ASHB 25X20 turns a slow, labour-intensive finishing bottleneck into a repeatable, semi-automated process step. It's equally at home preparing castings for coating, descaling forgings, or delivering a uniform key surface ahead of painting or galvanising — all with a finish quality and consistency that manual or cabinet blasting simply cannot match on parts of this size.

Operation Process
Components — loaded individually or mounted on fixtures — are lifted onto the hanger hook using the electric hoist. Once raised, the hook automatically travels along its own powered overhead rail into the blast chamber, where the twin-hanger, automatic-switch arrangement allows one component to be blasted while the next is loaded outside the cabin, keeping the machine working continuously rather than waiting on manual handling.
Inside the chamber, the hook rotates and oscillates the workpiece through the blast stream from the four wheel units, ensuring uniform coverage across complex geometries — internally and externally — without the part ever contacting another during processing. The two pneumatically operated swing doors, fitted with 10 mm rubber sealing, are electrically interlocked so they cannot be opened until the blast wheels have come to a complete standstill, protecting operators at every cycle.
Controls
The ASHB 25X20 is governed by a Siemens SIMATIC S7-1200 PLC paired with a Siemens KTP 700 touchscreen operator panel, giving the operator clear text-based feedback on process status and any faults as they occur. The system includes:
- Manual and automatic operating modes
- One pre-loaded automatic blasting program
- Full running control of the work-piece transport system
- Live ampere readout for each blast wheel, giving an instant view of blasting load
- All safety interlocks required under EU machine directives built in as standard
The panel is rated IP55, for protection, running from a 415 V, 50 Hz, 3-phase supply.
Blast Wheels
At the heart of the ASHB 25X20 are four CG-model blast wheels, each driven by an 11 kW motor and fitted with a single-disc runner head carrying six blades. The direct-fastening blade design does away with lock spring retainers entirely, so worn blades can be changed quickly with minimal downtime. Each wheel is reversible — clockwise or anticlockwise — throws abrasive at 110 m/s, and delivers a combined shot spread capacity built for sustained, heavy-duty production blasting.
Abrasive Transport & Recovery
A screw conveyor beneath the blast chamber collects spent abrasive from the recovery funnel and feeds it to a fabric-reinforced bucket elevator, which lifts it — at a rate of approximately 720 kg/min — into an air-flow separator. Here, dust and spent fines are separated out, while reusable abrasive is screened and returned to a 2000 kg-capacity hopper ready for reuse. Short hose runs connect the hopper directly to each blast wheel, with pneumatically actuated flow control valves and a low-level sensor ensuring the wheels are never starved of media.
The conveyor includes a high wear-resistant steel bucket, driving and deflection pulley, tensioning assembly, anti-reverse clutch bearing.
Dust Extraction
Dust is controlled by an ActOn high-performance impulse cartridge filter unit in solid welded steel construction. Six cartridge elements are cleaned automatically by compressed-air impulses via diaphragm valves, monitored by a pressure differential gauge, with an airflow capacity of 6,000–7,500 m³/h. Ducting between the blasting chamber and the dust collector is supplied as standard, keeping the workspace clean and compliant.
Construction
The blasting chamber is a fully welded, leakproof enclosure built from 8 mm austenitic manganese steel — a material chosen specifically for its resistance to abrasive wear. In the areas that take the most direct impact, opposite the blast wheels and across the chamber roof, additional 8 mm manganese steel wear plates are hung using a toolless fastening system, so worn liners can be swapped out quickly without extending downtime. Twin pneumatically operated swing doors, lined with 10 mm rubber, seal the chamber and are interlocked to prevent opening while the wheels are running. Hanger guiding at the base of the chamber keeps components correctly positioned throughout the blasting cycle.
Component Transport - Y-type overhead rail
Parts move through the system on a powered Y-type overhead rail, free-suspended with its own supporting structure and designed for two hangers with an automatic switch. Each hanger is fitted with an electric hoist for lifting and loading, and once raised, travels automatically into the blast chamber on its own powered conveyor — no manual pushing or manoeuvring required. Automatic hook rotation and oscillation give uniform, all-round coverage regardless of component shape. The system is rated for hook loads up to 2000 kg, and can be configured for single-part or cluster loading to suit your production mix.
Pneumatic System
The machine is supplied with a 350-litre air receiver. The air receiver helps maintain a stable pneumatic supply and reduce pressure drops caused by sudden increases in demand, including operation of the automatic machine doors and reverse-pulse cleaning on dust extraction.
