General Description
The Wheelabrator overhead rail shot blast machine from the HB range are equipped with a Y-shaped overhead rail system, two carrying hooks and two integrated loading and unloading stations
The workpieces are alternatively either directly attached to the carrying hooks in the loading or unloading stations or attached with auxiliary frames to the carrying hooks and manually pushed by the operator as far as the blast cabinet. The carrying hooks are moved into the blast chamber automatically.
The door to the blast chamber is closed manually or automatically depending on the machine equipment. The blasting process can subsequently be started. The blasting process runs automatically according to the preselected blasting program. An indicator lamp visually indicates when the blasting process has come to an end.
The door to the blast chamber then opens manually or automatically, depending on how the machine is equipped. The carrying hook is, in turn, discharged automatically from the blast chamber. The operator takes over the carrying hook with the blasted workpieces, pushes it to one of the loading or unloading stations and removes the workpieces. The empty carrying hook can be reloaded and a new blasting process can begin.
Wheelabrator Group overhead rail shot blast machines are optionally equipped with electric chain hoists; these can be used to move the carrying hooks in the area of the loading and unloading stations to the optimal loading height for the operator in each case.
Operational Specification
Parts to be blasted are loaded on to a Christmas tree fixture or directly onto either of the suspension hooks and pushed into the chamber. The hook is then rotated at a constant 14rpm whilst being impinged by the media thrown from the 1500 to 3200 rpm blast wheels giving a 360 degree pattern of coverage and for a duration determined by the process timers. The returning media is elevated and air washed to separate the spent media and light dust then sieved to remove any debris whilst the 12m³/Hr dust extractor pulls the airborne dust from the chamber through a primary cyclone again allowing the grading and separation of spent media from the system.
The Y track loading extension allows the second fixture to be loaded whilst the first is being processed permitting an almost continuous level of production to be achieved.
