Description

The Tornado 16 Xcell R reverse jet cartridge filter dust extractor features rotary valve discharge, one 45 gallon drum waste collection and pedestal floor mounted fan set complete with a 15kW motor.

The DCE Tornado dust collector is used for the collection of airborne dust and particulate matter, fitted with standard size elements 0325 x 1400mm. The filter cartridge elements are automatically cleaned. Each row of elements being temporarily out of action while the others remain in operation. Cleaning of the filter elements can be adapted relative to each individual dust type & volume to be handled.

Working Principle

In normal working operation dust laden air enters the filter through the gas inlet box or open base of the unit dependant upon model designation and coats the outsides of the filter elements. The filtered air flows through the centre of the cartridges into the clean air plenum where it exits the filter via the fan set & acoustic silencer (fan ventilator type) or through a side outlet grille with cowl (vent type).

The filter elements are automatically cleaned with aid of an electronic circuit board which activates the remote solenoids mounted on the end of each diaphragm valve. Upon activation of the solenoid the diaphragm valves open allowing a certain volume of compressed air through a blow tube with jet nozzles directing compressed air down the inside of each filter element.

The compressed air pulse - with the induced air added to it - flows through the filter element and filter media in the opposite direction to the normal airflow. The result is that the dust built up on the outer surface of the filter elements is blown off and falls into the collection hopper.

The air pulse lasts for approximately 80-200 milliseconds after which the diaphragm valve closes and the filter elements become back on line.
