Description

Enclosed  Manual Cleaning Line

This Fully Automatic Plating Line was installed at Chromalloy UK's Derby plant and was professional decommissioning by Riley Surface World engineers when the facility was closed.

The plant and ancillaries have been moved to storage and photographed at Riley Surface World's UK facility.

General Description

A manual process line installed circa 2015 which is in excellent condition.

Designed to carry out the removal of masking lacquer on turbine blades using acetone but offering the possibility of conversion to other aqueous cleaning processes on high value components.

The equipment is arranged in a straight line. The work is carried through the line by an overhead electric hoist with manual pendant control and 125kg SWL.

A sophisticated supervisory control and data acquisition(SCADA) system is provided incorporating a Siemens PLC linked to a Simatic touchscreen HMI to provide the man machine interface (MMI).

This represents a good opportunity to acquire a process line in excellent condition offering considerable savings over the buy new price.

ATEX Directive

This equipment was originally designed under the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC, however due to its subsequent removal and reinstallation by others its is incumbent on any prospective buyer to obtain independent recertification by a competent body should they intend to use the plant with acetone or other flammable liquid.

As Acetone has been classified with a Hazardous Risk Phase of R11, highly flammable the responsible person(s) within the buyer’s organisation will need to be familiar with the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR) Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP) and guidance along with all other relevant approved codes of practice and current legislation, before the plant is made operational. The plant is offered on a sold as seen basis by Riley Industries without warranty (implied or otherwise) as to its suitability in any particular application.

Principle of Operation

The manual acetone de-lacquer line has been used for removing lacquer from aero engine components.

Components are manually loaded and unloaded into baskets by an operator processed through the tanks using an overhead electric chain hoist under manual pendant control.

The whole of the acetone plant was installed inside a purpose built half hour fire rated enclosure as the system is classified as hazardous by the nature of the materials being used. The previous owner’s health and safety department has provided this Zone Classification sketch for indicative purposes only. The Buyer will need to carry out their own assessment in the event of intending to utilise inflammable liquids in the plant.

 Transfer Trough Process Stations

 Transporter Equipment

1 Off Fully motorised 125kg SWL pendant controlled electric chain hoist.

 Track Support Structure

The runway track is manufactured from pained steel beams supported by stanchions from the floor. Cross bracing is provided as required.

The self-supporting structure is in bolted sections lined and levelled onto the factory floor without the need for special foundations.
The complete structure is manufactured from painted steel suitable for the operating environment.

 Plant Enclosure

The plant is located inside a purpose built enclosure manufactured from bolted sections of plastic coated steel with a half hour fire rating. There are double glazed viewing windows in front of each tank. Twin opening doors on one end for the basket to enter and exit the enclosure and a personnel access door at the side. All doors are also fitted with double glazed windows. The enclosure has a longitudinal slot in the roof fitted with closure brushes through which the hoist chain hangs. The enclosure is also fitted with internal lights. The plant is located in the corner of the room, so the back wall and right hand end wall are provided by the building fabric, the removable enclosure itself makes up the front wall and the load end wall of the box.

Drip Shields

Tanks have drip shields in between to stop solution spillage along with full length consoling at the front and back to give a very attractive and functional appearance.

Fume Exhaust Systems

The extraction system includes the following major items of equipment:

  • Fume exhaust hoods
  • Exhaust dampers
  • Interconnecting trunking

Fumes are extracted via rear lip hoods into a plenum chamber with connection vertically through riser ducts into a manifold running at high level at the rear of the plant.
