Why You Should Consider Perc in Your Enclosed Solvent Degreasers

Hermetically sealed washing systems, such as a Firbimatic, are worthwhile technology for precision cleaning of metal components. They have an excellent ability to remove dirt and oil, providing high quality results on metal components with complex shape and form. Perc´s versatility makes it compatible with almost any metal, especially those that are more susceptible to oxidation such as aluminium, stainless steel, magnesium, zinc and some other alloys.

The use of Perchloroethylene in Metal Components

Perchloroethylene or Perc, has been used for about 50 years in the precision washing sector of metal components. Perc is a chlorinated chemical compound that aids high quality final result on different components; it is considered one of the most effective solvents, as it has progressed over the years, reduced emissions, and it is possible to be recovered in the process. Besides being economical, Perc represents a suitable solution. It provides a safe and emission free process. The cleaning quality is exceptional thanks to Perc as it has a low boiling point, and dries out very well.

REACH Regulation on Perc (Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals)

The purpose of REACH is to distribute and promote knowledge of the dangers and risks that are associated with the use of certain chemicals, while at the same time maintaining its strength and competitiveness of the European Chemical Industry. The proposal developed is a closed-circuit system for washing metal components. The efficiently sealed solvent system allows the storage, loading, and transport of Perc without running the risk of toxic emission. The costs associated with washing are reduced because the solvent is not dispersed. The solvent is then recycled and cleaned of all dirt residues collected during the washing phase.
