Description

Auto M-Z bag dust collector is suitable for various applications that generate light to medium volumes of dry dust. This is a robust simple mechanically cleaned bag dust collector suitable for non-continuous duty for industrial, commercial and educational locations. The dust collector is neat, compact, unobtrusive, easy to externally clean and has a robust weatherproof welded steel construction.

Suitable for the collection of all types of dry nuisance dusts, in industrial situations this example includes ATEX rated explosion panels and ATEX rated inlet spark arrestor.

Build Design

The filter body, with full width opening front access door, is fitted with a multi vee-pocket filter bag secured by a clamping frame at its lower end. The upper end of the bag is suspended from a frame, which can pivot about its central axis. This is in turn linked by a connecting rod to the shaker drive motor, robustly located within the unit top, below the silencer enclosure.

The filter body is mounted on the pre-separation section which in turn is on top of the steel hoppers. The hoppers are fitted with quick release bin mechanisms and rectangular steel Bins of 32 litre capacity.

Operation During Normal Operation

  1. During normal operation, the dust laden air from the plant travels down the supply duct
  2. The standard baffle is mounted at the inlet of the filter to break up the airflow and direct the dust down into the hopper section while protecting the filter media from abrasive dust.
  3. The lighter dust collects on the envelope bag as clean air passes through. Finally, the clean air travels through the air handling fan where it could be returned to the plant or exhausted outdoors.
  4. The heavier dust settles in the hopper section where it can be discharged into the metal bins.

Cleaning, Dependent on Set Up of Controller (Not Included)

  1. Each time the filter unit is turned off, there is a 2 minute delay and then the automatic timer activates the shaker cleaning.
  2. The shaft of the shaker motor is attached to a simple cam which, in turn is attached to the shaking mechanism. The shaking mechanism pivots vigorously from side to side which causes the dust to break free from the inside of the filter bag.
  3. The dust then falls into the quick release metal bins located at the bottom of the filter unit.

Importance of Dust Extractors

Dust in the workplace can affect product quality and employee´s health. Having a dust-free environment is essential to the health and safety of the workforce. Not only does it affect the health of employees but the dust covers the equipment affecting production processes and quality of the products. 

Capturing the dust at the source prevents it from spreading, done by using a dust extractor system to facilitate the important housekeeping to avoid it from accumulating.

How do Dust Extractors Work?

Dust collection systems work in a variety of different ways but all have general principles in common. They draw process dust and particulates from the air through a filter that first captures and separates the matter, and then discharges decontaminated air back into the workplace or environment.

Dust extractors are used in many different and varied industries and so different demands are made of them; however all have common components such as a blower (or fan), dust filter, filter cleaning system, dust container and dust removal system.

Five common types of dust collection equipment are fabric filter baghouses, inertial separators (like mechanical cyclones), cartridge collectors, wet scrubbers, and electrostatic precipitators.

What are Shaker Dust Collectors?

Shaker Dust Collectors contain a number of woven bags, which are fixed onto rails and use their surface area to capture dust as it is drawn through the extraction unit by its fan.

Bags are periodically cleaned by rapidly shaking the bags through a shaker motor and linkage system which removes the filtered dust from the bags and into a collection bin.

These units are commonly used in foundries, steel mills, the mining industry, power plants, and smelting industries.
