Wheelabrator Vacublast Ventus 150S Pressure Fed Multi-Gun Semi-Automatic Shot Peener

The  Wheelabrator Vacublast Ventus model 150S Semi-Automatic Peener is a Pressure feed air blast cabinet that has been significantly refurbished and upgraded to house a 6 blast gun array, held by an adjustable subframe.

The comprehensive freestanding control panel houses all of the machine controls, including individual gun pressure gauges and duty switches. The  MAGELiS programmer holds programs that control the shot blast process operational parameters.

Former Rolls Royce Machinery

This plant is one of several machines acquired during Rolls Royce's reorganisation of their manufacturing facility at Inchinnan, UK.
Their worldwide reputation for quality is reflected in the machinery and maintenance of their manufacturing plant.
Many of these machines include features that are necessary for the manufacture and servicing of high quality engine components,
but can provide a benefit to any industry.

Blast chamber

The machine comes complete with an adjustable vertical rod-less cylinder reciprocating gun arm and swing-out variable speed motorised rotary table (max load 250kg) arranged for fixturing.

The fully abrasive rubber-lined cabinet has a single access door fitted with a safety interlock.

The cabinet currently operates 6 pressure fed guns to accommodate complex profiled applications.

The rotation of the turntable is from a polyurethane drive wheel mounted to the rear of the cabinet. This drive wheel is powered by an externally mounted motor/gearbox arrangement

There is a substantial cyclonic recovery unit feeding the pressure pot, which in turn feeds all 6 guns. This recovery is arranged to enable media clarification, which in turn ensures optimum in gauge glass bead peening

The machine is complemented by a reverse jet model 150 dust extractor which contains 6 pleated filter cartridges

A much sought after Wheelabrator Ventus 150 S large capacity suction blast cabinet with swing-out rotary table, reclamation cleansing unit, and associated reverse pulse cartridge dust extractor, designed and built for a wide range of industries.

 Additional cabinet features include:

- Internal lighting
- large viewing window
- Large operator armlets
- R/H loading door
- 1mtr swing out load table
- 250kg load capacity
- Six guns each with Adjustable blasting pressure
- Manual Glove port entry to front of machine behind cover plate

** Approximate OEM Replacement value for this machine would be £120,000.00

What is Shot Blasting?

Shot Blasting can be used as a catch all term for a wide range of similar industrial processes. It is also called abrasive cleaning or abrasive surface finishing. During the shot blasting process a media material is fired at an object to remove remove burrs, flashing, paint, scale or rust and clean and smooth (or sometimes intentionally roughen) the surface.

There are several mechanical methods used to propel the media material including using compressed air or water streams, or airless methods such as wheel blasting.

The media used also differs depending on the results needed but the catch all term is shot, hence shot blasting. The shape, size and weight of the media will determine the outcome. Frequently a metal shot is used including steel grit, copper shots, and aluminum pellets. Some methods of shot blasting use silica sand (sand blasting - not in some countries due to health risks), glass beads (bead blasting), sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) or crushed nuts shells or kernels.
