A Hilsonic large twin tank system with ultrasonic cleaning and rinse tanks

Each tank being 1500mm by 1500mm and 600mm deep.


  • The patented technologies use ultrasound to remove problem contamination from all types of hard surfaces such as metals, plastics and ceramics. The power of the equipment can be harnessed to clean items of all shapes, sizes and technical complexity, penetrating holes and cavities that are impossible to reach using ordinary cleaning methods.
  • The ultrasonic cleaning process is based in piezo electric transducers, which are attached to the cleaning tank. These generate ultrasound waves that vibrate the cleaning fluid – either water or a specially formulated chemical – at a very high velocity, creating a process called cavitation.
  • Heated by an immersion heater to its optimum cleaning state to both help improve the cavitation action by removing the dissolved oxygen within the water and assisting the chemistry to work more efficiently.
  • In the cavitation process millions of tiny bubbled are expanded then imploded within the solution, this penetrates every orifice of the item being cleaned, removing dirt and grime within seconds.
  • The tank can be used with water based cleaning fluids which enhances the action of the ultrasonics with both a chemical a and mechanical cleaning action.
  • After the processing of the components through the cleaning tank they can then be removed of any residual chemistry within the secondary stage rinsing tank.
  • The Cleaning tanks solution is maintained in an optimum state by the addition of a pumped filtering system to remove any suspended solids for it. 



  • The ultrasonic tank is driven by 36 bar transducers, bonded and mechanically fixed to the base of the tank'
  •  Operating frequency of 30 kHz +/- 2 kHz.  
  • Each bar transducer comprises 4 piezo electric elements in a sandwich type configuration operating in a radial mode.
  • The transducers are driven by 6 x FMG 600 generator modules, each delivering a total output of 600 watts.  
  • A frequency sweep is used for more uniform and intense cavitation.
  • The system is protected against over voltage, over temperature and mains transients.
  • The tanks are supported in an acoustically isolated stainless steel frame, and clad with 1.5mm 304L satin finish stainless steel panels.

Hilsonic generators

  • A key feature of the generators is our patented frequency sweep, which moves the cavitation bubbles up and down the item to be cleaned at the astonishing rate of one hundred times per second, ensuring that no area gets too much or too little cavitation. With their highly efficient energy transfer, the generators require no forced air cooling, which means that all of their energy goes directly into the transducers.
  • The generators include versions that are totally sealed from harsh environments, either in the atmosphere or as a result of ‘dirty’ power supplies. This ensures uninterrupted performance, even with power spikes of up to 2500 volts.
  • In addition, the standard Hilsonic generators feature ES environmental cooling. This system dispenses with fan assisted forms of cooling which suck in pollution from the outside atmosphere. As a result, there is considerably less risk of generator failure.
  • Each generator has its own, independent output indicator, making it easy to detect and isolate defective performance and to reduce machine down time.

Hilsonic transducers

  • The machine is constructed using ultrasound 30Khz ‘bar’ transducers as opposed to conventional ‘cone’ transducers. These have a 50% greater contact area with the outside surface of the tank. This factor substantially reduces the risk of ‘hot spot’ erosion and stress cracks to the metal surface and provides more uniform cleaning.
  • The Hilsonic transducer bar is not just bonded to the tank, but has a unique centre-bolt mechanical fixing to ensure long lasting adhesion.
  • The transducers are made of high quality phosphor-bronze/silver construction in order to minimise heat build up, thus extending the life of the transducers and piezo electric crystals.
