Walther Trowal ZM03 Waste Water Centrifuge

Process Water Recycling Systems can be connected to virtually any vibratory finishing machine. This increases the savings potential of vibratory finishing. Most vibratory finishing processes such as de-burring, precision grinding, rough grinding, radiussing or polishing are wet processes. Water and cleaning agents (compounds) are the carriers for resultant removal of media and metal fines.

The resultant process water is completely recycled via a closed-loop system. Water and compound savings contribute to significant cost reductions. This systems technology is based on special centrifugal technology with an acceleration factor of up to 2500 g, coupled with environmentally-friendly chemistry.

Trowal Process-Water Circulation Systems can be adapted to any vibratory finishing or other sludge laden applications. 

Process water – an important cost factor

It won’t work without process water

Water and compounds are essential for vibratory mass finishing. During the finishing operation the process water is polluted with fines from media, metal fines and oil or grease dragged in with the work pieces.

Therefore, the water has to be cleaned. If process water goes to drain it has to be cleaned more thoroughly (via flocculation) than would be necessary with centrifugal recycling. The idea would be to constantly recycle the effluent from mass finishing operation. It saves not only water (up to 98 %), but also compound (up to 90 %).

Furthermore, the user does not need a permission for the discharge to the sewage system from the Water Authorities, thus saving disposal costs (approx. 50 % less than with a flocculation process alone).

For most mass finishing applications, recycling is possible. Occasionally however, there are applications where recycling is not advisable: For example pickling with acid or using several compounds in one process or the parts surface must be extremely clean. In such applications, a “single pass” system including flocculation of the waste water and transfer directly to drain is the most simple and safe process.

Centrifugal technology – the gentle cleaning method

This system uses a post operation waste water collection tanks with paddled stirrer and flocculation separation tank with automatic chemical dosing. The waste water is treated to concentrate the sludge into thick slurry before it is pumped into a holding tank ready to be processed through the centrifuge to effectively remove solids before the water is either re-used or sent to waste. The system is completed by a PH correction discharge facility to correct the PH to the required specification before dropping to the local sewage system according to the values set by your local by-law regulations.  


With the centrifugal filter technology solid fines are removed from the process water with a centrifugal force which is up to 2.417 times higher than the gravity of earth.

Basket Centrifuges ZM

The model range ZM 03 are easy-to-handle, robust constructions with manual discharge and emptying of the mud baskets. In one cycle, up to 14 litres (19 kg) of mud can be separated. Two removable sludge baskets are provided.
