The Pangborn 4D1100/610H shot blasting system

Specifically designed to optimise the production of steel profiles and plates in a wide array of fabrication shop settings. This through feed machine comprises of four stages plus in-feed and out-feed roller tracking. The four stages are, drying, Blasting, Air knife cleaning, secondary air cleaning and shot recovery. This machine was fully reconditioned in 2012 by J Reid Engineering.

Only run 4127 hours since reconditioning (1 week in every 6 months) all four blast wheel internals replaced again in 2018.

In 2018 the Wheel blade set, Wear plate, Dust filter cartridge and other consumables were replaced with NEW by J Reid Engineering after which the machine was not run in production.

The Pangborn 4D1100/610H shot blasting system is easily integrated into new or existing shop layouts while utilising proven robust shot blasting technology.

Shot blasting, or abrasive blasting, is an essential part of most steel mill, metal finishing and foundry operations, whilst being an established finishing technique since the late 1800’s. It is a mechanical method of propelling abrasive using a centrifugal wheel to remove surface contamination, scale and other impurities from the surface of steel applications, like structural steel including girders and heavy construction equipment, large weldments, plate steel, bar and wire steel and foundry castings.

In general, blasting prior to finishing serves three primary purposes: It cleans and descales surfaces, adds texture to enhance paint adhesion, and if done properly reduces maintenance costs by increasing coating life.

When it comes to shot blasting the Pangborn 4D1100/610H has proven to be unrivaled in durability and innovative engineering. Reconditioned in 2012 by J Reid Engineering, only run 4127 hours since reconditioning (1 week in every 6 months) all four blast wheel internals replaced again in 2018.

Blast wheels

Four 11 kW blast wheels are positioned 90° to the flow direction of the roller conveyor with a blast coverage of 360° around the components. These wheels offer excellent blasting performance and unbeatable service life due to the main blast components being made of hardened tool steel.
Each consisting of a easy access wheel hood fitted with fully interlocking hi-chrome and manganese wear plates and a 370mm effective diameter wheel, Direct driven by a 7.5kw T.E.F.C motor

Shot blast Cabinet

As with all Pangborn roller conveyors, the shot blasting cabinet is manufactured cross rolled manganese plates. Manganese is tough enough to deal with shot blasting from 35HRC to more than 50HRC.

Heavy-duty screw conveyors remove used shot from the cabinet by a  belt and bucket elevator and sieve type airwash unit, where it is then re-supplied to the blast wheels  through individual quadrant valves on each wheel which is activated by a sensor

Reverse Pulse Dust Extraction

Pangborn SES Heavy Duty Reverse Pulse Dust Collector complete with 15kw integral fan set with sound reduction silencer box, 4 x pleated filter elements giving a total filter area of 760 sq ft (75m²) offering an approximate air velocity in the range of 6000 cfm (10194 m³/h) @ 10"wg.

Complete with Magnehelic Filter Monitor, fan starter control and filter cleaning pulse generator, for optimum cleaning and maintenance free extraction flow rates.

Conveyor mounted pulse-jet dust arresstor unit fitted with attenuator cowl on extraction fan exhaust.
Access platform complete with safety rails and ladder for inspection and maintenance of dust arrester cartridges.

Powered Roller Bearing

6 off feed tables measuring 1660 x 3000 x 1500 (w x l x h) providing a possible total working length of 30 metres.
Conveyor driven by 0.75kw variable speed geared motor unit
