Description

BABCOCK WANSON TPC 600 B

Thermal fluid heaters with integrated natural gas, burner meets the needs of modern industrial process heating.

With thermal fluid as the heat transfer medium, users are not confronted with the well known problems of pressure, scale formation, corrosion and frost of the more traditional heating mediums.

The TPC range of thermal fluid heaters typically operate at up to 400°C at atmospheric pressure and remain fluid and pumpable down to minus -20°C and even lower with special fluids, which makes it a solution suitable for a multitude of applications.

The TPC 600 has a vertical configuration with concentric coils, flame reversal combustion chamber and three gas passes plus integral combustion air pre-heater.

Optimal distribution of the heat exchange, high fluid velocity and specialist flow control offers both long fluid life and the highest of safety.

Fully integral burner, control panel, system controls and safety equipment makes this unit ready for connection to the fuel system, power, exhaust and fluid circuits.

Typical System

thermal fluid advantages

BABCOCK WANSON

Thermal fluid heaters are multiple pass vertical coil type heaters providing high efficiency operation. The thermal fluid circulates in a coil heated by the burner flame and its resulting combustion gases. It is then distributed through a low pressure network to the various heat users. On the return circuit a deaerator/expansion vessel, ensures the elimination of entrained air, vapour and light fractions before the thermal fluid re-enters the heater.

Effective fluid expansion and de-aeration systems with thermal buffer are critical for the good, long term operation of a thermal fluid system. The BABCOCK WANSON Combined De-aerator Expansion Tank (type CDX) achieves all these functions with the simplest practicable installation and can include intermittent or continuous power venting.

The primary circulating pump provides the flow in the system to take the heat from the TPC heater and transfer it to the users. Heat losses from the system are very low level in relation to radiated heat from the required insulated distribution pipe work.

The versatility and very low running costs of thermal fluid make it suitable for a wide range of applications – from a simple, single tank heating duty to complete factory projects comprising more than 100 users.

Process temperatures from 50 to 400ºC and space heating on demand plus heating and cooling with positive control at widely differing temperatures mean simple systems with high efficiency.

Here are some examples of applications and industries where thermal fluid heating is regularly chosen as the best method:

  • Process tank heating,
  • reactor heating,
  • bulk liquid storage,
  • food processing,
  • metal finishing,
  • anodizing,
  • pharmaceuticals,
  • refining and blending,
  • marine,
  • press heating & cooling,
  • extruder heating & cooling,
  • moulding processes,
  • laminating,
  • drying & forming,
  • furniture,
  • plastics,
  • automotive manufacturing,
  • paper & foil coating,
  • stentoring,
  • textile transfer printing,
  • calendaring and ironing,
  • printing & laminating, batch & continuous dryers,
  • waste treatment,
  • drying & curing.
