Description

Evoqua is the OEM of JWI, USFilter, Perrin, Siemens and other brands of filter presses. For 40 years Evoqua has provided new equipment, spare parts and replacement parts and best-in-class service for these dewatering brands.

Designed to optimise performance and minimise labour, the Small Capacity sled mounted portable J-Press Filter Press features a hydraulic closure system, Standard corner feed polypropylene filter plates and cake thicknesses for versatile performance, manual plate shifting to minimise labour requirements. This filter press combines rugged steel construction, precision engineering, ease of operation and a wide range of features and options to tackle the most difficult dewatering problems.

Sludge is fed into the filter press by a high pressure pump which passes passes through the corner feed eyes of the succeeding plates along the length of the plate pack until all chambers are full of slurry.

Flowing under pressure, the solid particles begin to deposit on the surface of the filter cloth forming the initial layer of filter cake referred to as the pre-coat. Once applied, this pre-coat layer becomes the actual filtering medium.

As filtering continues the cake thickness gradually increases, until the adjacent filter cake in each chamber touch or bridge. At this point of the filter cycle, the dewatering phase enters into final cake consolidation to achieve maximum cake dryness.

During the consolidation step of the cycle, additional solids are being pumped into the filter chamber to displace even more liquid.  This results in a dryer, firmer and denser filter cake. This cycle normally continues until liquid flow from the press is reduced to virtually nil.  At this point, the pump is stopped and the internal pressure within the filter plate pack can be relieved.

The squeezed water can be diverted to a filter for either discharge or reuse.

To discharge the filter cake, the plates are separated and the compacted solid cake falls through to the base awaiting disposal.
