Description

The Quick~Cure Gas Catalytic Infrared oven is one of the world's most advanced high speed curing/drying systems on the market today.

Designed for use with all types of wooden, composite, plastic and metal sprayed products.

Protech Finishing Systems developed, designed and perfected the original gas catalytic Infrared drying box oven system over 20 years ago, enabling them to become the market leaders in Infrared curing technology. Protech Finishing Systems have been supplying these systems to the industrial and commercial markets ever since, gaining an unrivaled reputation in gas catalytic systems for the purpose of curing wet paint coatings (both solvent & water based).

These high efficiency systems offer low running costs, reduced VOC emissions and rapid pay back on investment:

Advantages of the ‘QUICK~CURE’ BOX oven:

Objectives of the Catalytic Infrared oven:

To increase production output, reduce drying times of all coated parts and increase product quality.

How catalytic heaters work:

  • Gas catalytic infrared emitters convert natural gas or propane into medium to long wave infrared by using a special platinum catalyst.
  • The only by-products are water and carbon dioxide. 
  • This flameless catalytic reaction produces controllable surface temperatures of the emitters of around 400°C without the release of NOx gases (Nitric oxide and Nitrogen dioxide) or carbon monoxide.
  • The radiation intensity can be varied infinitely between 20% - 100% of the available output. Infrared heat transfers energy and generates heat where it is needed.
  • PLC controlled infrared ovens are precisely designed to match the thermal process application. This saves energy, improves process stability and increases capacity and quality.
  • The process time can be reduced by up to 80% and the required space by up to 50% when compared to conventional systems.
  • The emitted radiation is in the range 3.5 to 5.5 microns and thus exactly matches the absorption spectrum of sprayed coatings.

Mode of operation:

  • The sprayed products, once coated will move on loaded trolleys into the infrared curing ovens process chamber.
  • When the ovens are fully loaded the operator(s) will start the drying cycle on the control panel of the oven.
  • Once the drying/curing cycle of the oven has been completed an alarm will activate and the oven will automatically switch into 'standby' mode,
  • When the oven goes into its standby mode, the air recirculation/exhaust fans switch to their maximum speeds to prevent any over temperature on the surface of the products.
  • Operators can then unload the products from the oven (maximum internal air temperature 35-40°C)
  • Once the ovens are emptied the cure cycle can start again (on operator selection at the control panel).

Drying time scales:

  • 5 -10 minutes Stains
  • 10 -15 minutes Primers
  • 10 -15 minutes Lacquers
  • 10 -15 minutes Top Coats

(Time scales are based on actual times in the infrared ovens).

“Fast~Cure” infrared gas catalytic curing box oven build overview

  • 3 metres working width (internal) x 4.5 metres working depth (internal) x 3 metres working height (internal) with double access doors at one end 
  • Twin entry access doors with soft close hydraulic catchments
  • Four x 18” x 60” natural gas catalytic infra red emitters, two emitters at high level and two at lower level controlled by a central control console.
  • Two air recirculation fans mounted on the roof of the oven complete with central bleed off ductwork, speed control inverters, all internal recirculation and all ducting to atmosphere.
  • Control console includes a fully adjustable temperature controller for two zones, start up, run and fault lights, process timer, standby switch and full heat selector together with all necessary overloads, fan controls etc.
  • The ovens are constructed from composite panels comprising a stainless steel highly reflective inner and Plastisol outer steel sheet. 
  • The panels are insulated with a core of 40mm thick mineral wool insulation to prevent heat loss and minimise running costs. 
  • External and internal wall panel joints are smooth, and the joints are cool to the touch whilst the oven is in operation. 
  • Panels have CNC formed tongue and groove construction. 

Supply requirements :-

  • Electrical supply 40 amps (per phase) 3-phase , n & earth.( flc approx 30 amps ) connect onto control panel isolator. 
  • Gas supply @ 7 inch working pressure, demand 52 kw. connect to gas train isolation valve
