Description

The Formeco SM series for degreasing systems with optional azeotropic distillation Solvent recycling is a great way to save money and the versatile range of SM models lead the way in automated solvent recycling.

The SM series has been specifically designed for direct connection to new or existing solvent degreasing plants The SM series will continually recycle solvents and maintain a low percentage of oil in the cleaning solvent to produce consistent cleaning results.

Comes as standard with microprocessor control of all functions with easy programming of process parameters.

Modern automatic enclosed solvent degreasing machines, utilise an integral recycling process for the solvents, by means of atmospheric pressure distiller which operates in a continuous cycle.

In this process though residues, formed by oil, grease, metals, etc. are not effectively removed  from the solvents and are still present in a typical percentage of between 20 and 50%.

This high percentage of contamination due to the thermolability of the chlorinated solvents, by not allowing a forced distillation which can cause the solvent to become  acidic, which in turn attacks not only the components being cleaned but the machine itself.

This also has further consequences : Higher amounts of waste with high disposal cost for the residue, which contains a high percentage of reusable solvent.

A notable improvement can be achieved by using a vacuum distillation unit, which can lower this percentage level to between 5 and 8%. The definitive solution for this problem is obtained by combining the vacuum with Azeotropic distillation.

Connect direct to a degreasing system to continually recycle solvents, keeping oil levels to a minimum to maintain first class cleaning every day. The machines run completely automatic loading and unloading solvents continually, oil residues are unloaded into a internal tank for cooling prior to unloading by pump into your waste barrel.

The SM series machines can be supplied in various configurations for use with non flamable or flammable solvents (ATEX) with optional vacuum and steam to provide the optimum recycling system for any solvent.

AZEOTROPIC VACUUM DISTILLATION

In large petrochemical plants, azeotropic vacuum distillation is more often than not used to treat thermolable solvents, not mixable in water, and polluted by liquid contaminants.

FORMECO has transferred this sophisticated technology on to its scaled down units. The process consists of a "soft" vacuum distillation for about 70-80% of the polluted solvent. followed by, the then concentrated residues left inside the chamber to be treated by a flow of steam which strips the residue part of solvent still present, at a working temperature more than 20% under the critical one which causes acidification of the solvent.

The system can deal with a range of solvents with simply adjustment of the temperature controls to suit the boiling point which ever one is being used.

RESULTS

  • Yield of distilled solvent : > 99,7%
  • Solvent contained in the residues : 0,1-0,3%
  • Process residue is able to be disposed off without any charge or re-utilised in the original production cycles (ex : cutting oil).

THE UNITS

  • Stainless steel AISI 304 still,  with a peripheral jacket filled with diathermic oil, heated by low watt density electric elements.
  • Vapour condenser, cooled by air, via a finned stainless steel AISI 304 cooling pipe.
  • Integral distilled solvent storage tank with static water separator.
  • Steam generator with electrical heating and automatic feed.
  • Recycling circuit for the process water.
  • Electrical requirements: 230V, 50Hz, 2KW. 8.6Ams
  • Process tank load capacity 25l

OPTIONAL

  • Automatic loading of the polluted solvent
  • Automatic unloading of the distilled solvent
  • Automatic unloading of the process residues
  • Electronic program for process control
  • Cartridge filter on the loading line
