Riley Surface World is a major supplier of used transformers for rectifier applications. We supply a range of transformers that are compatible with all leading rectifier manufacturers.
At the most basic level, Riley supplies Converter Transformers (Step-Up and Step-Down) in order to convert the mains input voltage to the correct level for the particular unit, e.g. a rectifier built in the USA and designed for 120v to be run at 240v.
Control Sequence Transformers provide a link from the mains supply that governs the firing sequence of a number of Thyristor-controlled rectifiers. This is often in use in a multi-function environment covering a number of related manufacturing processes, such as in a plating or coating plant.
Multi-Purpose/Multi-Pulse transformers are used in large, complex power supply systems where phases have to be controlled and co-ordinated to reduce AC ripple and to enable the very best power supply performance.
Smoothing-Choke transformers perform an equally important function in Multi-Phase/Multi-Pulse systems by eliminating any residual AC ripple at the end of the sequence. They can also be used in isolation to reduce the ripple effect in stand-alone rectifiers.
