The plating line is an automated Ushaped rack and barrel line suitable for configuration in line. It was based on an acid zinc/cobalt plating process with a yellow passivate finish. The two legs are connected via a water rinse transfer tank. There are 4 transporters, 2 per leg, that transfer the barrels/racks along the process, to give high volume high quality output.
The system incorporates an automated barrel load where stillages of components are tipped into a hopper and weigh checked into the 1 meter wide motorised barrels. Adjacent to the auto load is a manual barrel load facility. Racks are loaded/unloaded at station 28.
A gas fired mesh belt drying oven is incorporated at the unload station.
The plating line footprint measures approximately 19m long and the double line of tanks are approximately 5m overall width. The plant is presently installed on a raised concrete plinth approximately 22m x 7.5m wide and 60cm high. There is exhaust ventilation PVC ducting covering the entire line the fumes from which are passed through a fume scrubber before passing via a stack to atmosphere.
