Riley wins aerospace de-commissioning project and announces plant disposal

Cobhampic

Riley Surface World has been selected by Cobham Mission Equipment for a large de-commissioning project at its Wimborne site in Dorset, UK. Cobham is a global supplier of aerospace and defence systems and the market leader for air-to-air refuelling products. In a series of strategic moves aimed at improving customer focus and creating an engineering centre of excellence, the company has gradually outsourced its manufacturing capabilities and recently announced its intention to scale down its building facilities. Cobham has appointed Riley to de-commission its surface finishing facility at Wimborne and to dispose of all redundant plant and machinery. The de-commissioning project includes the dismantling of several metal finishing production lines and the safe disposal of chemicals required for the electroplating and other finishing processes. Riley is acting as the principal contractor, conducting a professional site closure plan and dealing with all necessary submissions to the Environment Agency in accordance with the terms of the PPC license. CME spent £300,000 on the treatments facility in 2008 and this is reflected in the quality of the equipment which is now available for sale at the 4000 square metre site. All of the equipment is offered for sale at special offer prices for a limited period until March 25, 2010. Viewing days for prospective buyers at the Wimborne site will be March 10/11 and 17/18, 2010. To make an appointment to attend on any of these dates, or for further information, call +44 (0) 1922 458000 or email: [email protected].
